The Adult Learn to Swim Clinic is designed for adults with little to no swimming experience, teaching foundational skills such as safe water entry, floating, breath control, and basic strokes in a supportive, judgment-free environment. Our instructors understand that many adults come to the water with anxiety or past negative experiences, so we focus on building comfort, confidence, and skills at a pace that feels safe and encouraging.

As the Y proudly celebrates its 175th anniversary, we remain committed to strengthening our community through programs that promote health, safety, and lifelong learning. Teaching adults to swim is a vital part of that mission. Water safety is not just a children’s issue-adults who learn to swim gain essential life-saving skills, greater independence, improved physical fitness, and the confidence to enjoy pools, lakes, and beaches with family and friends.

Learning to swim as an adult can be transformative. It opens the door to low-impact exercise, stress relief, and social connection, while reducing the risk of drowning and increasing overall well-being. At the Y, we believe it’s never too late to learn, and we’re proud to continue this life-changing work as we celebrate 175 years of service to our community.
