Early Horizons (PreK-K)

Campers will enjoy arts and crafts, swimming lessons, water safety courses, theme weeks, music time, bring a book to camp, show and tell day, and on-site programming in their own separate building, outdoor area, and playground.

Adventure Camp (Grades 5-8)

Entering Grades 5-8
Campers will be off-site at Hedden Park 2-3 days per week. They will participate in arts & crafts, hikes, sports & games. Day trips: 1 large and 1 small trip per week. Space is limited. Campers will swim in the Y pool 1 day per week and have 1 day of swimming at the Hackettstown Pool.
CIT's Counselor-in-Training (Grades 9 & 10)

Entering Grades 9 & 10
The Counselor-in-Training Program teaches teens the job skills necessary to be a counselor and strong employee.
The camp environment provides a unique opportunity for youth to build leadership skills, particularly in assisting counselors with younger campers. Counselors in Training (CITs) are provided first-hand experience working with campers and the opportunity to cultivate skills and knowledge in the day camp setting. CITs are selected through an interview process. Training and a 2-week commitment are required if selected. Space is limited.

What are the camp hours? Normal camp hours are 9:00 am-4:00 pm. AM (7:30-9:00 am) & PM (4:00-5:30 pm) Care is available for an additional fee.
What are the camp ratios?
Ages 2.5-4 | 14:1 Adult Counselor and 1 Jr. Counselor. For every 7 additional campers, there will be 1 additional counselor |
Ages 5-14 | 20: 1 Adult Counselor and 1 Jr. Counselor. For every 10 additional campers, there will be 1 additional counselor. |

Are there any discounts available for camp tuition? YES! We offer a 5% Sibling Discount per child. Use Promo Code CAMPSIBLING at checkout. We also offer a 20% Military/Veteran's Discount. Please contact debbie@wmaymca.org to apply this discount. Discounts cannot be stacked.
How do I know which camp to register my child for? We recommend registering for the grade they are entering in September.
How often will my camper swim? Campers will swim 2 times per week. Adventure camp will have 1 additional day of swim each week at Hackettstown Pool.

Bus and Bus Driver Information

Buses are leased and maintained by Byram Bus and are inspected 2x per year. The buses also have 3-point seatbelts for rider safety. All bus drivers are NJ State Licensed CDL Class B drivers with a minimum of 2 years driving school-aged children. Our drivers adhere to all physical state mandates and participate in a random drug and alcohol testing program as mandatory by the DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration).
Swim

Every Monday of each session, all campers will be swim tested to evaluate their swim ability. Swimmers will be assigned a wrist band color to designate their level. This will allow the staff to group swimmers by ability and to provide quality instruction. During the summer the campers will be working to improve their skills while having fun in the pool! Our goal is to help all campers become safe and confident swimmers.
BAND COLORS:
RED: Must wear a life vest during free swim. This is a non-swimmer.
PURPLE: Has some swim ability but must remain in the shallow end.
GREEN: A confident swimmer that is safe in all areas of the pool.
Early Horizons (Pre-K)
Red-The child will learn the fundamentals of water safety and basic water skills. Children will learn and further their front crawl with rolls to their back, kicking on back, back floats, and elementary backstroke. When the child is ready, they will learn to independently do front crawl with rolls to their back, kicking on their back, back floats, and elementary backstroke.
Purple- The child will start to learn side breathing with their front crawl. Also, the child will learn backstroke. By learning these two strokes, it will help them develop their endurance and learn how to tread water.

Red- The child will further practice longer distances with their front crawl with rolls to their back, kicking on back, back floats, and elementary backstroke. This is where the child will learn to independently do front crawl with rolls to their back, kicking on their back, back floats, and elementary backstroke.
