YMCA CEO Announces Retirement and Board Launches Nationwide Search for Successor
Randolph, NJ September 5, 2025 -The West Morris Area YMCA today announced that Kathleen Fisher, Chief Executive Officer, will be retiring effective December 31, 2025. Fisher has served WMAYMCA for 23 years, leading the organization through a period of significant growth and community impact. She has been instrumental in guiding the Y through one of the most challenging chapters in its history-the COVID-19 pandemic.
During her tenure, Fisher oversaw the Y’s recovery from pandemic closures, ensuring that the organization not only survived but emerged stronger, expanding critical services to meet the community’s evolving needs. Recognizing the importance of wellness beyond fitness, she spearheaded the development of chronic illness prevention and management programs, positioning the Y as a vital partner in community health.
“Kathy has been a steady hand during times of uncertainty and a true visionary for what the Y can and should be for our community,” said Jennifer Begraft, Chair of the YMCA Board of Directors. “Her leadership has touched countless lives and leaves an enduring legacy of resilience, compassion, and innovation.”
The Board of Directors has begun the process of identifying Fisher’s successor and will ensure a smooth leadership transition.

Together, we have faced challenges head-on and built something lasting. I am confident that the Y will continue to thrive in the years to come.”
The YMCA Board of Directors has initiated a nationwide search for a new Chief Executive Officer in partnership with the YMCA of the USA National Resource Office and the New Jersey Y Alliance. The ideal candidate will be a passionate leader with a proven track record of success.
